Someone jimmied the driver’s side door of my work truck today and stole my 15-year old iPod Nano, my work clipboard, bag, jacket, various change, and other stuff I probably haven’t thought of yet. Inexplicably, they didn’t sparse collection of useless tools, though I’d actually prefer they had compared to the contents of the cabin. Happened between 1am and 5pm today.
None of my neighbors saw or heard anything, and what’s surprising is that the dog didn’t growl or bark (our bedroom window is right about where the truck is parked). My dog growls and people having a light conversation outside, 50 feet away. Seems highly unlikely it happened in broad daylight while two of my neighbors were doing yardwork. Could it happened during our walk? At 2pm? The guy — or gal — was probably experienced with this so they were probably in and out and 5 minutes, and wouldn’t have taken the chance if anyone was around.
It’s been about 7 years since the last time I had a car broken into. It sucks. Much worse is the fact it happened on my property this time as opposed to on the street.
My wife of course gave me the business about leaving my work bag in the car. A gross oversight. I bring it inside virtually every day. For whatever reason, I didn’t this time
[Edit] They also stole my sleeve of business cards, which means they have my name, number, email, face, and address.

Shit man, sorry about that.
2020 can't be over soon enough for me.

Once a thief has been in your personal space and taken what’s yours, it take a while for that feeling of violation to go away.
Sorry man, this sucks!

Sorry to hear that - this region seems to make up in petty property crime what it lacks in typical Murkan violent crime.
Last year, so meone got into the “secured” garage where the fintail lives. As the prior owner of my car lost the door key and I’ve never had it replaced, my car was unlocked, and prowled. Nothing of market value in it, but the prowler did take an ancient tire gauge that was in the car when I got it, a tape measure and small souvenir pin given to me when I was a kid by a now-deceased family friend, and a hood badge from a R107 given to me by my uncle when I was a kid . No real value to any of it, but sentimental losses hurt too.
Funny thing, some actual minor value in the trunk (spare parts, cheap tools, fire extinguisher) , untouched. At least they didn’t break a window, etc.

S ometimes in cases like that it’s a neighborhood kid - have any munchkin monsters near you?

Exactly. It’s been over 4 years since my birthday surprise, and I’m reminded of it every time I see that untinted replacement window or cut myself on the shards of glass that are still hanging around under the seats despite my best efforts to remove them.
My birthdays haven’t been all that great. 2016 it was the break-in, 2019 it was a DRE and cancer, and 2020 was a dead battery when I had a meeting to attend. Given those various bits of fun, I’ll take a dead battery any day...

Sucks.
Amazon has their Blink XT2 camera on sale for $75 which is the lowest they’ve ever had it on the site (though there was a really good buy via Alexa deal last year that was cheaper): https://www.amazon.com/Blink-Smart-Security-Camera/dp/B07MMZ2LTB
No idea if it’s actually good compared to everything else out there but my parents have one and were able to get it working without any difficulty.

If Seattle has a
similar
opiate addiction problem to what we
have in Vancouver, there’s a 90
+
% chance it’s a junkie,
and
his stuff is already
a stolen goods street market..

That sucks. I left my Blazer unlocked once, and all my stuff was rifled through, they stole my bear spray and a flashlight, but left the $200 socket set....
Also had the house broken into a couple years ago, that was a really gross feeling, coming home to see a window broken and the door ajar. Never had an alarm system before, but now we do.
The violated feeling does take a while to go away, and it’s extra frustrating knowing that even if they were caught, probably nothing would happen. Or maybe that’s just up here...

Was it antifa? I heard they took over your whole state.

I use these. They’re simple to set up and they just plain work. No complaints here.

I went and visited them today. They were very friendly and definitely not breaking into anybody’s cars—too busy handing out masks to passers-by and ensuring the streets they’re currently occupying are among the cleanest in the city.

Damn, that sucks man! I have a tiny little Sandisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 player I’ve had since university and the damn thing just won’t die....I use it in my car to listen to music and, as stupid as it sounds, I know it’s just a thing but if I lost it or somebody took it, I’d be pretty sad as it’s been with me through a lot! :(
At least they didn’t take the tools!

No way that's not what the angry man on the TV said.
